BARANGAY ATIOC HISTORY
Barangay Atioc is one of the 24 barangays enclosed in the South District Division of Barangays in Tarlac City. Barangay San Miguel surrounds it on the North, Barangay Dela Paz on the South, Barangay San Francisco on the East, and Barangay Armenia on the West. It is approximately 8.1 kilometers away from city proper. It has a total land area of 117.16 hectares wherein the 110.00 hectares corresponds to agricultural area and the remaining 7.16 hectares designate to residential and commercial area. It divided into two Sitio’s namely: Sitio Pasaldacan (Sitio San Isidro at present) and sitio Centro. It also divided into four Purok namely Purok 1, Purok 2 to Purok 4.
Barangay Atioc classified as Rural Barangay, it has a total population of two thousand five hundred sixty (2,560) as of 2020, and a household population of five hundred sixty three (563). Barangay Atioc before it was established and separated from their mother Barrio of San Miguel was just a Sitio called Sitio Atioc. Sitio Pasalsacad (Sitio San Isidro at present) and Sitio Atioc were both Sitio’s of San Miguel. These two Sitio has combined to form a separate Barrio. Residents of this place filed a petition for the separation of this two Sitios to become another Barangay in Tarlac City. Through petition, their request granted supported by some resolutions.

On motion of councilor, Pedro de Jesus duly seconded.
Resolved, That the petition of the family heads and registered voters of Sitio Atioc and Pasaldacan both of San Miguel, this Municipality requesting their Sitios be converted into a separate and independent Bario to be known as Bario Atioc, be referred to the committee on Zonification through it, Chairman and to the Councilor of the district on study and recommendation.

Resolved. That the petition dated August 20,1970 and its attached supporting papers, the qualified voters of Sitio’s Atioc and Pasaldacan both of San Miguel, this municipality for the creation of the place into a separate barrio to be known as Barrio Atioc in view of the reasons mentioned therein be forwarded to the honorable provincial board of Tarlac, Tarlac respectfully recommending favorable consideration there on. The Baun, Manangquil, Balagtas family were the pioneers of this place.
Ninety percent of the total populations are Pampango, and the rest are Tagalog, Bisaya, Pangasinense, and Ilocano. Barangay Atioc celebrates their feast day every September 28-29 as a thanksgiving to the patron Saint Michael the Archangel (San Miguel Arcangel). St. Michael the archangel Michael is one of the principal angels in Abrahamic tradition; his name was said to have been the war-cry of the angels in the battle fought in heaven against Satan and his followers.
