BARANGAY SUIZO HISTORY

Barangay Suizo is also part of South District Division of Barangays in Tarlac City. Barangay San Sebastian bound it on the North, Barangay San Rafael on the West, barangay Maliwalo on the East and Barangay Ungot on the South.

It is approximately 4.0 kilometers away from city proper. It has a total land area of 186.69 hectares correspond to residential and commercial area. It also divided into 7 Zones namely: Zone 1, Zone 2, Zone 3, Zone 4, Zone 5, Zone 6 and Zone 7.

Barangay Suizo classified as Urban Barangay, it has a total population of four thousand six hundred fifty seven (4, 657) as of 2005, and a household population of nine hundred twenty (920).

Barangay Suizo is also an agricultural barangay. Mostly 60% of the total populace in this area was providing their daily needs through farming. They cultivate palay, corn and vegetables vice versa depending on the season on planting. The 30% of the populace here are professionals, OFWs, laborer, employee, construction workers, driver and so on. The others have their own business such as sari-sari store and so on.

The Spanish formerly owned Barangay Suizo. It was then called “Hacienda Suiza”. In the year of the Americans, its ownership was transferred to a Swiss national. From Swiss national, it transferred to Pascual and De Leon family. At present, Aurora Village II and I were the land owned by the Pascual’s and the land that was owned by the De Leon’s family was sold to the residents of Barangay Suizo. Its name has derived from “Hacienda Suiza” and from “Swiss” which is the nationality of the second owner of this Barrio. Pascual and De Leon were the pioneers of this place.

Eighty percent of the total populations are Pampango, and the rest are Tagalog, Bisaya, Pangasinense, and Ilocano.

Barangay Suizo celebrates their feast day every May 1 as a thanksgiving to their patron Saint Michael the Archangel. St. Michael the archangel Michael is one of the principal angels in Abrahamic tradition; his name was said to have been the war-cry of the angels in the battle fought in heaven against Satan and his followers.
