BARANGAY MABINI HISTORY
Barangay Mabini is one of the nine barangays enclosed in the Metro District Division of 76 Barangays in Tarlac City. It bounded by Tarlac River on the North, Barangay Cut-Cut 1st on the West, Barangay Poblacion on the Southeast and Barangay San Nicolas on the Northeast.
It is approximately 1.0 kilometer away from city proper. It has a total land area of 11.99 hectares. It is the second smallest barangay among the 76 barangays in Tarlac City. The whole part of this barangay corresponds to an industrial and residential area. Public Market and other business firm also found here.
Barangay Mabini classified as Urban Barangay, it has a total population of eight hundred fifty one (851) as of 2020, and a household population of one hundred eighty three (183).
Barangay Mabini is an industrial, commercial and residential area. People residing in this area were mostly employees, laborers, professionals, drivers, construction workers and others. Some were having their own mini business stall such as sari-sari stores, canteen and so on. Tarlac Electric Corporation, Tarlac Public Market is some of the major business centers situated in this barangay.
Barangay Mabini, due to the no existing records of this barangay about their history and other profile, no one can tell us on how and when Barangay Mabini was established. All they know is that it was naming before a Filipino hero Apolinario Mabini- the sublime paralytic. When Apolinario Mabini was on his way going to Paniqui with his assistants for a church inauguration, he took rest on this place for a night. In honor to him, the place named Mabini named after the surname of a Filipino hero and a sublime paralytic Apolinario Mabini.
The early settlers in this barangay are Reyes, Espinosa, Tañedo, Landingin, Dizon, Ortega, dela Cruz, Navarro and Laxamana family.
Ninety percent of the total populations are Pampango, and the rest are Tagalog, Bisaya, Pangasinense, and Ilocano.
Barangay Mabini celebrates their feast day concurrently with the Celebration Tarlac City’s Malatarlak Festival. It celebrated every 13th-20th of January a weeklong celebration of the City feast day. Their Patron is Saint Sebastian. Saint Sebastian was considered protector against the plague as having been killed by arrows and it was thought that plague spread abroad through the air.
