BARANGAY BUROT HISTORY

Barangay Burot is also part of the South District Division of Barangays in Tarlac City. Barangay San Francisco bound it on the North, Barangay Sapang Tagalog on the East, Barangay San Carlos on the West and Municipality of Bamban on the South.

It is approximately 9.0 kilometers away from city proper. It has a total land area of 469.90 hectares wherein 127.0 hectares corresponds to agricultural area and remaining 342.9 hectares designated for residential and commercial area.

It also divided into 7 Blocks namely, Block 1, Block 2, Block 3 to Block 7.

Barangay Burot classified as Rural Barangay, it has a total population of three thousand two hundred thirty six (3,236) as of 2005, and a household population of five hundred ninety five (595).

Barangay Burot is both agricultural and commercial area. In terms of agriculture, approximately 50% of the populace in this area was farmers. Farming is one their source of livelihoods. They cultivate palay, corn, vegetables and so on. Other residents were employees, laborers, construction workers, drivers, and so on. Different types of business firms situated here. Some of them are computer shop, general merchandise, enterprise, resort and so on. Some of the residents here were have their own business such as sari sari store, canteen and many more.

Tall trees covered Barangay Burot in the early times and grasses. During those early times the land cannot buy, all you have to do is to clean anything you want. Mr. Tiburcio Tobias, the first pioneer in this area, was the one to clean this place. At that time, he popularly had known as “buro” as his family and other residents of this place call it. Since he was the pioneer and the founder of this place, they decided to name this place to Mr. Tiburcio Tobias. His nickname “Buro” and the first letter of his surname “Tobias” combined that is why the name “Burot” coined. He is also the first ever-appointed teniente del barrio at that time and governed their place. Another pioneer of this place was Bautista, Pascual, Vega, Dueñas, Sundiang, and David family.

Ninety percent of the total populations are Pampango, and the rest are Tagalog, Bisaya, Pangasinense, and Ilocano.

Barangay Burot celebrates their feast day every first Saturday of May as a thanksgiving to their Patron Apung Sto. Cristo.
