BARANGAY UNGOT HISTORY

Barangay Ungot is also part of the South District Division of Barangays in Tarlac City. It is bounded by Barangay Maliwalo on the North, Barangay San Miguel on the Southwest, Barangay Paraiso on the South, Barangay Suizo on the West, and Barangay Balete and Barangay Cut-Cut 2 on the East.

It is approximately 7.3 kilometers away from city proper. It has a total land area of 454.30 hectares wherein the 301.74 hectares correspond to agricultural area and the remaining 152.56 hectares designate to residential and commercial.

Barangay Ungot classified as Rural Barangay, it has a total population of three thousand five hundred thirty eight (3, 538) as of 2005, and a household population of six hundred sixty eight (668).

Barangay Ungot is also an agricultural barangay approximately 70% of the total populace in this barangay providing their daily needs through farming. They cultivate palay, corn, and vegetables vice versa depending on the season of planting. The 20% of the populace were a professional, OFW’s, laborers, employees, construction workers, drivers, and so on. The rest has their own mini business such as sari-sari stores and so on.

In the early times, the people lived in “Barrio Melakwan” part of the Barangay Ungot was prospered they cultivate coconut it is round in shape. However, a situation had changed in a one moment. The people who live in “Barrio Melakwan” left their place because their Captain was shot and killed in front of his constituents. That’s what made them decide to left that place because of the fear and the other old women and men had phobia. They lived in cultivating land which is Ungot in the present the pioneer of this barangay was the Garcia, Gozun, David, Gorospe and Ramos Family.

Eighty percent of the total populations are Pampango, and the rest are Tagalog, Bisaya, Pangasinense, and Ilocano.

Barangay Ungot Celebrates their feasy day every March 19 as a thanksgiving to the Patron of San Jose. Saint Joseph after Our Lady, the holiest mere man who ever lived. He is Patron of Carpenters and Patron of Workers.
