Councilor Genise Anne P. Delos Reyes, SK chairman of Barangay San Miguel, is the president of the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation – Tarlac City Chapter and representative of the youth sector in the city council. Her term officially started on June 30, 2018. In line with her executive and legislative responsibilities, Councilor Genise organized a two-day team-building activity in Capas town in June 2019 themed “Shaping the Future Together” to promote unity among barangay youth organizations and enhance their leadership potentials, in adherence to Republic Act 10742 or the SK Reform Act. Councilor Genise sees to it that all officers of the city’s SK Federation are actively involved in the implementation of their programs and projects to ensure their success and the achievement of their goals. A big part of her work is to make regular consultations with youth leaders in the city’s 76 barangays, to support their activities and projects, to listen to their concerns, and facilitate collaborations among the youth sector, the non-government organizations, and the executive and legislative departments of the city government. As a legislator, she sees to it that her sector’s undertakings, concerns, interests, and problems are brought to the attention of the city council and work for the adoption of resolutions and the enactment of ordinances benefitting the SK Federation and the city’s youth in general. The 24-year-old youth leader drew inspiration to pursue a career in public service from her grandfather Enrique Delos Reyes, a former president of the Liga ng mga Barangay, her father, Jose “Popeye” Delos Reyes, current chairman of Barangay San Miguel, and her uncle, City Councilor Christopher Delos Reyes, also a former SK Federation president. Councilor Genise is a graduate of B.S. Pharmacy at the Central Luzon Doctors’ Hospital – Educational Institution and a licensed pharmacist.
